Yoga Class Descriptions

Chair Yoga:  (All levels) Returning to yoga after an injury or surgery may best be accomplished by the transitional stage of Chair Yoga.  Others with arthritis, bone issues, or a preference for staying off the floor may prefer yoga in a chair. Chair Yoga is a fine practice on its own or as a transitional stage between injuries and full mobility. As with any other yoga class, working with the breath, balance, posture, and core strength are an important part of the class.

Hatha Yoga:  (All levels)  Yoga originated in India, circa 3000 B.C.  Many scriptures detailing yoga positions have been found dating back to this time period.  Hatha yoga is the most practiced of Yoga in America.  This branch concentrates on physical health and mental well-being.  Hatha uses postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dhyana) with the goal of bringing Yoga (union) to a sound healthy body and a clear peaceful mind.  Yoga is practiced with mindfulness and meditative motions.  Benefits can permeate all facets of one’s life, raising self-esteem and self-understanding.  We know that acute tensions precipitate many of our physical ailments in modern life. Meditation has been adopted by medical schools and clinics as an effective stress management technique.  Hatha Yoga is also used by physical therapists to improve disabilities, fitness, and flexibility.

Vinyasa Flow with Essential Oils:  (All levels) This is a vinyasa flow class that ends with third eye massage paired with the calming and soothing aromatherapy of essential oils.
